Is LENS the next stimmy to hit the crypto market? After Coinbase listed LENS on their price page on Feb. 12th, speculation of an imminent LENS token airdrop began. The Lens Protocol Profiles collection saw volume surge from ~$5.8k on Jan. 1st to ~$249k on Feb. 16th, a more than 42x increase. Floor prices of each Lens profile rose as well, up nearly 3x since the start of the year.
As minting is currently closed for Lens handles, the only way to obtain one is by purchasing it on secondary markets, which likely explains the volume/price surge. While it is unclear if Lens profile NFTs will guarantee any LENS airdrop, the market is hopeful and speculating with optimism that it will be an airdrop criteria.
