A new PoW (yes, proof of work) protocol on Solana launched on Tuesday called Ore. The goal is to be a digital currency that anyone can mine on a phone, laptop, etc and from anywhere. Already it is cracked the top 3 programs on Solana and is kind of causing more congestion issues.
There isn’t much I really know about this besides that everyone is trying to mine it (and failing miserably like me) over the past couple days. In this case, the nerds aka people with technical chops are the ones mining, a diversion from a bit of the random memecoin apeing over the past couple months. As much as this is meant to be completely fair and democratic, there is an edge here if you’re technical.
I don’t really have much to say about this at this point other than it seems to be worth paying attention to.
