As the fight over user dominance continues in the L2 realm, let’s take a look at monthly active users and more importantly, user retention. In the first image below, we can see that it’s been a great year for Arbitrum, as even without the numerous promotional campaigns, users seem to flock. 
Next, we see the monthly user retention rate of both protocols. While Arbitrum has more Monthly Active Users, Optimism seems to have a slight edge when it comes to user retention rate. It will be interesting to see, if or when Arbitrum launches a token, if Arbitrum is able to eclipse Optimism in user retention.
