Celestia’s launch is scheduled to be at 2pm UTC tomorrow, at which point all Genesis holders should be able to see their TIA token in their wallet. If you have claimed your airdrop, TIA will be sent to your address; you don’t need to do anything further to receive it.
Following the launch, TIA will be listed for trading in CEXs like Binance, Kucoin, Bybit, and others. The estimated schedule for these can be found: https://twitter.com/its_airdrop/status/1719023326340014118/photo/1
TIA will also be tradable in Osmosis (and likely other DEXs as well). Notably, there will be a 2-hour gap between the launch and Binance trading. As such, If TIA pools on Osmosis get up and running quickly after launch, there is a good chance for Osmosis to lead most of the initial trading activity and thereby price discovery on TIA. This is likely as TIA/USDC pool will start receiving OSMO incentives right after launch. Incentives for TIA pools are high; they will be close to those in ATOM pools.
Ahead of the launch, TIA has been reported to be trading around 3,15$ on the futures market ( https://www.coindesk.com/business/2023/10/30/celestias-tia-token-trades-at-315-on-futures-market-ahead-of-airdrop/ ) however, volumes on many of OTC, perps, futures venues (e.g. Helix, Aevo, Kucoin) have been super thin, so i recommend not to read too much into it.
TIA Distribution & Release Schedule
TIA’s token distribution and release schedule is as follows: https://docs.celestia.org/learn/staking-governance-supply
As you can see, only the public allocation and 25% of the R&D eco allocation will be available at launch. Tokens allocated for early backers and core contributors will remain unavailable for at least a year following the launch.
Note that, while Public allocation (20% of the total 1B supply) is *available* at launch, only about 1/3rd will be *circulating*. The rest is for future initiatives and will enter into circulation via a governance process.
(“The definitions for circulating and available supply were adapted from Optimism’s definitions.”)
Genesis Drop
60M TIA have been distributed via the Genesis Drop (https://x.com/CelestiaOrg/status/1706671243481784620?s=20). Off this 60M, 20M was allocated to Osmo and Atom community (stakers as well as IBC relayers) and another 20 M was allocated to the most active rollup users. But to me, the most interesting aspect of the Genesis Drop was its focus on the research community which also received 20M. Pretty much anyone who contributed to ethresear.ch has been eligible for TIA.
However, of the 584k addresses eligible for the Genesis drop, only 191k (32%) have claimed their airdrop within the allowed time window. The unclaimed TIA was allocated to those who claimed, boosting up their allocation.
