Robotics: The Third Wave of AI Speculation

Andrew Kang will likely become a billionaire in the coming years, and not from crypto. If you’ve been doomscrolling CT over the past week or so, you may have noticed one of the many hyperbolic takes he has on the future of robotics.

And his claims that this sector will reach “decatrillions” isn’t necessarily unwarranted, assuming the already existing consensus view that related technologies, like AI, will also reach similar valuations someday. I mean, the current market cap of Nvidia alone sits at over $2.8 trillion. These advancements are only accelerating exponentially, as robotics is tightly coupled and correlated with AI. Simply put, this sector is moving quick. Just this past week, Apptronik closed a $403M Series A with Mercedes-Benz, ARK Invest, along with other investors to push forward the commercialization of humanoid robots.

any interesting projects that are legitimately working at the intersection of crypto and robotics that you are paying attention to?

The current projects as pure robotics are BitRobot Network & FrodoBots. However, I do think DePin will initially catch a bid, similar to how the “Humanoid Enablers” will be a beta to pure Robotics companies like Figure Robot and Apptronik in the traditional market.

Especially if we consider how nascent robotics is as an industry currently, but even more so within the context of the crypto space. Peaq, Geodnet, and Auki Network are some that I’ve come across in terms of DePin “enablers” for robotics.
