I wasn’t a part of the early internet but from what I’ve read about it – it was supposed to be a collection of communities each with its own culture, knowledge, and value. After spending better part of my days on the internet (as it is today) it doesn’t feel that way for sure. Our attention is commoditized and the all knowing algo largely decides what we consume.
One of my recent favourite crypto experiments is trying to rewire this concept – Subs dot fun

It is aiming to build towards that original promise. Subs are not just a place to post and scroll, but can now be intelligent collective that learns and generates value (monetary, cultural and informational) for their creators and members.
What is a Sub?
Each sub is a specialized AI agent (subagent) that moderates, learns and evolves alongside the community. As members contribute insights, data, and discussions, the subagent adds to its knowledge base and rewards members for their contributions.
Also everyone hates mods – so subs.fun gets bonus points for eliminating mods in my books.
