On June 16th, Valve concluded its second Steam Next Fest (SNF) event of the year. This was a particularly special one for us because it was the first time, afaik, that not one, but three Web3 games were included in the 2365 games vying for attention on the world’s largest PC gaming distribution platform.
*Spoiler: two of those three finished in the top 50 ranking… kinda*
As I covered the last SNF in Q1, I figured I’d bring you another brief analysis of what went down, what trends emerged, and highlight a few of the best performers.

As a brief recap, SNF is a week-long event where Steam shines a spotlight on unreleased games and their demos. The goal for every developer during SNF is to get people talking about their game and increase the number of wishlists on their Steam account (wishlists are the best metric we have for judging a game’s success on day 1 sales).
Unlike last SNF, this time I wanted to get a data snapshot across the three main rankings on day 1 (D1), day 3 (D3), and day 7 (D7). This was so that I could see how the rankings changed over time and hopefully gain some insights on patterns shared among the best-performing games throughout the whole week. The three main categories were:
-
Trending Upcoming – measures trending or recent wishlists count
-
Popular Upcoming –
