ZEC has been a strong outlier over the past 24 hours on the back of the Google Quantum Papers
If you missed it, Google researchers along with Justin Drake and Dan Boneh released a paper stating quantum could break BTC by 2029, far ahead of earlier mid-2030’s or beyond estimates.

Like any good crisis the market will look for a hedge. ETH being the second largest asset and a team who takes the quantum threat seriously is one candidate, the other smaller cap and more closely resembled to BTC is ZEC. When we wrote our Zcash report in Feb, the quantum threat was highlighted as a potential bullish catalyst for ZEC. Today’s papers give us the clearest indication on whether or not this will be true.

To be clear, ZEC is not quantum resistant today. But the wheels are in motion and they have the team to make it a reality sooner than later. We’ll see if this rally has momentum or is a flash in the pan fade over the next week. It’s probably the most “real” the quantum threat has been yet, will ZEC be a true hedge/tactical play for it?
