What Is Civitas?
Civitas is a blockchain-powered 4x strategy game that will be available on both PC and mobile. The game features a player-driven economy where players control city-states via subDAOs. The companion mobile app offers an augmented reality experience with mini-games and resource collection.
Background
Civitas raised $20m in funding in 2021 to develop the game. Delphi Ventures, among others, backs the project. The game is set to invite alpha testers in late 2022 or early 2023, with a beta version coming later in 2023.
How It Works
The game is free-to-play but with limited access for players who don’t own a plot of land. Once a player acquires a plot of land by minting, buying, or working their way up, they become citizens, granting them full access to the gameplay. Citizens can build on their land, trade, fight for resources, and govern their city-state through multiple civilizations. SubDAOs make collaborative decisions on roles, responsibilities, goals, and allocation of the city-state’s treasury.
