What are Doodles?
“Doodles” is a collection of 10,000 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) featuring joyful and colorful artwork by Burnt Toast, the alias of Canada-based artist Scott Martin.
Background
Martin and former Dapper Labs employees Evan Keast and Jordan Castro conceived the project. The collection includes playful characters in animal costumes, bright jewelry, sunglasses, and more. It also includes non-human characters like pickles, cats, skeletons, and apes. The project, which is community-driven, raised $54M in funding in September 2022 and has since expanded beyond the initial NFTs to include live events, merchandise, and additional NFT collections. The team consists of former Billboard President Julian Holguin and musician and producer Pharrell as the project’s chief brand officer.
How They Work
Each Doodle allows its owner to vote for experiences and activations paid for by the Doodles Community Treasury. Doodles can be purchased on numerous secondary marketplaces, including OpenSea, Nifty Gateway, and LooksRare, and half of the 5% royalty taken by OpenSea secondary sales revenues is deposited into the community treasury. The project recently released a free companion NFT collection for existing holders called Space Doodles.
